Bill Rauen Joins ABS Team as Dairy Sire Analyst
Bill Rauen has joined ABS Global, Inc. as a dairy sire analyst and member of the regional sire analyst team.
“Bill has a wealth of experience in the dairy cattle breeding and A.I. industry, including a thorough understanding of genomics, evaluation systems and pedigrees that will make him an asset to the sire analyst team,” commented Mark Smith, director of global bovine product development. “He has worked with sire analysts in the past and his attention to detail and ability to work in a team atmosphere will ensure his success in this role.”
As a dairy sire analyst, Rauen will work closely with ABS employees, representatives and customers to enhance the understanding and value of ABS dairy genetics. He will use his knowledge of cattle evaluation systems, genomic evaluations and pedigrees to effectively communicate and develop professional relationships with Holstein breeders. Rauen will utilize sound financial management skills to acquire bulls for the ABS sire lineup in the western United States and Canada.
Rauen has been very active in the dairy and AI industry. At his family’s Farnear Holstein farm of Farley, Iowa., he has helped with mating and marketing of elite Holstein cattle. In his most recent position as an AI district sales manager, Bill provided direct sales to customers, as well as genetic and reproductive solutions for large herds. He also mated cows and heifers and managed the budget for his sales area. In addition to these responsibilities, Bill has remained a chair for the Iowa Holstein Association sale and is involved with the Purebred Dairy Cattle Club. Bill is a graduate of Iowa State University and will be based out of Peosta, Iowa.
